What is ECO 4?
ECO4 will be a four-year scheme and is intended to run from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026. The main objective of ECO4 is to improve the least energy efficient housing occupied by low income and vulnerable households.
Where does funding for the ECO Scheme come from ?
Under ECO, medium and larger energy suppliers fund the installation of energy efficiency measures in households throughout the United Kingdom. Each obligated supplier has an overall target based on its share of the domestic energy market in the United Kingdom. The obligated energy suppliers work with installers to introduce certain efficiency measures into your homes.
How can I qualify for ECO funding ?
If you or anybody in your home receives any benefits then you will automatically be eligible for funding through the ECO Scheme.
Can I still receive ECO funding if I don’t receive benefits?
As part of the Government’s ECO4 scheme there is an extension for Local Authorities named LA Flex. This means that more people fall in to the Eligibility Criteria for free boiler and insulation grants. Some of the criteria include:
- Low Income Households
If you have a total combined household income of £30,000 or less. - Health Conditions
If you suffer from a health condition that is exacerbated by living in a cold home. - Vulnerable to a Cold Household
If you are either: Aged 70 or over, Pregnant or you have a child under 5 years old.
Is the ECO Scheme backed by the UK Government?
The ECO4 scheme is the latest version of the governments ongoing initiative to increase energy efficiency in the UK. With several households now in fuel poverty, this scheme is targeted towards lower income households.
